Over the past decade, Reclaiming Youth International has provided training to hundreds of public and private organizations in education, social services, mental health and corrections in various parts of the world. We have resources to provide Response Ability Pathways (RAP), Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI), Developmental Audit and PersonBrain training programs. In many instances, while providing training services, we are asked to observe programs, consider challenges regarding individual young people and engage in discussions about organizational responses to problems or opportunities. These informal interventions, which have occurred in the context of training contracts, have resulted in growing interest among those who engage us in their work to request formal consultation as the primary focus of our work with them.
Organizations seek consultation services for various reasons. Healthy, well-functioning organizations use consultation services to maintain focus, examine ways to improve or expand services and build leadership capacity. Others utilize consultation services to help them regain focus, address internal challenges or respond to challenges from changing conditions in their service areas. At Reclaiming Youth International, we are pleased to announce that we are expanding our capacity to provide consultation services.

Reclaiming Youth International has been involved in contracts with the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services over the past two years, providing RAP training and consultation services. Our work in 2010 will involve an increased level of consultation with administration and direct care staff in facilities in that system. We have also engaged in on-going consultation work with the Connecticut Bureau of Juvenile Services, Hartford, CT, Huron School District, Huron, SD, and Cathedral Home for Children, Laramie, WY. We have recently provided consultation services with Allambi Youth Services in Newcastle, Australia, Regina Public Schools, Regina, SK, Canada and Harlem School District, Rockford, IL. Discussion and planning for future consultation is underway with the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, Lower Brule Reservation, SD.
One of our goals for growth in 2010 is to offer consultation services more broadly and frequently. For us, it is a way of getting to know our colleagues in the Reclaiming Youth Network better and to stay keenly aware of the challenges facing young people and the programs that serve them. For our colleagues, it is a way of tapping in to the vast resources of knowledge, experience, cutting-edge practice and leadership available through our executive team, our board members and our selected associates. Reclaiming Youth International, a small non-profit organization, is fortunate to have first rate professional training and consultation resources available to offer our colleagues throughout the world in a full array of disciplines.
