Nicholas J. Long, Ph.D., is a psychologist and special educator who has taught on the faculties of American University and Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He has piloted model programs for troubled children and youth in schools, treatment centers, and at the National Institute for Mental Health. His numerous publications provide practical carry-away skills to professionals on the frontline. Dr. Long is currently president of the Life Space Crisis Intervention Institute, which provides advanced training to professionals working to reclaim our most challenging students. He is author of numerous publications including Conflict in the Classroom and Life Space Intervention.

Larry K. Brendtro, Ph.D., is founder of Reclaiming Youth and former president of Starr Commonwealth in Michigan and Ohio where he continues to serve as dean of research and training. He has broad experience as a youth worker, educator, and is a licensed psychologist. He has taught in the area of behavior disorders at the University of Illinois, The Ohio State University, and Augustana College. He co-authored Reclaiming Youth at Risk with Martin Brokenleg and Steve Van Bockern. He has 10 books in print and has authored 200 articles on troubled children and youth. He is a member of the U.S. Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention chaired by the Attorney General. He currently is training professionals world-wide on the Response Ability Pathways (RAP) curriculum which puts the Circle of Courage resilience model into practice. He resides in the Black Hills of South Dakota with his wife, Janna, who edits reclaiming youth publications.
